Post 8: This Week in Science (Fruit Flies Part 1)

This week in science we had to look at flies... they were disscusting. they were in these little tubes that had food and a spongey thing to scover the top and the flies wont come out but they could still get air. In the little tube thinggys there where like 30 flies liveing in each of them. There where flying around and leaving eggs aroung and little maggot things were moving around. We had to do this problem to see how many flies would there be in a habitat in 3 weeks if we started with only 3 flies

I learned that adult female flies can drop more then 20 eggs a day. I learned that the growth of a fly is very fast. From being a egg to being able to lay eggs takes only 16 days. i learned that male flies back parts are very black so thats how you can tell if the fly is a male or female.
